Hi Alkaline Sisters
What made you stick with this lifestyle and really adapt to the alkaline way? I have tried many different approaches to getting “healthier or losing weight” and it works for some time and then I fall off the wagon. Can you share?
Kelly
Hi Kelly
The most profound realization that Yvonne and I both experienced is the knowledge. Knowledge is power. Power is control. We have become very much in control of what we choose to eat based on our thorough study and understanding of how food technically effects our bodies and what it does to our physical, emotional and mental well being. We have also studied modern food extensively with the grim realization that most food is poisonous for our systems. 90% of every grocery store is comprised of processed food. The produce section is even filled with toxic vegetables that are coated with pesticides or are perhaps GMO. Our world has become a place where many of us have been accustomed to thinking that this stuff is all edible and it won’t harm us if we eat it. And secondly, we are so filled with toxins that our bodies are like a garbage dump. My analogy goes like this. Imagine a brand new garbage dump is beginning and it will be on a nice patch of grass. Notice how obvious the first trash dump looks, it mars the pretty fresh green grass, kinda smells and you want to clean it up. Well, check it out 5 years later, when a new load of trash is dumped for the day- can you notice it? do you notice the smell? are you just accustomed to always smelling the smell so you can’t really smell it? Well our bodies have become this way- so full of toxins that when we drink a few cokes we don’t really notice the effect-yet if I drank a coke with this squeaky clean alkaline body (like the first load of trash) within an hour I notice it–my nose is dripping clear fluid and I may be sneezing as it pushes out the intense toxins that I just ingested. (Have you ever sneezed immediately upon drinking or eating something- this is a sign you shouldn’t have it). This is a perfect healthy response as my body is working in the most optimal way with all it’s discharge functions in top working order to eliminate toxins. Most of us do not have optimally functioning discharge functions, some are not even emptying their colon daily (this is a recipe for disaster- cancer, big time as optimum functioning is 2x daily) and the toxins don’t try to escape until a raging fever is present and green glump is caught in our throats. This may be happening to ones body on a regular basis in attempt to empty the overflowing toxin bucket in the body but we take a decongestant and shove all the toxins right back in or better yet we take highly acidic prescription drugs to try to “quick fix” it instead of changing our diet to quickly cleanse the body. Beyond these symtoms one may suddenly be facing serious cancer that just seemed to appear from nowhere cuz you were healthy-or so one thought- ooops… the garbage dump was sooo toxic that the symptoms were masked and individually considered minor things or they were ignored. I tell ya, I have been here before. I was so out of tune with my body that I hardly noticed if I missed a day in the washroom. I was highly acidic and overly toxic and never even knew, yet I was in pain. Hmmmmm. It happens. Soooo…..where was I, back to the knowledge. Once we really understood our bodies and what it takes to have a healthy body and then understood what food would make it function optimally, did we really become empowered to choose to committ to an alkaline lifestyle that would stick forever. There is no going back, never. It isn’t even a consideration. We know tooooo much now and we have the feeling. The addictive feeling of energy and vibrancy and the conscious comfort of knowing we are doing the best we possibly can for our bodies, our families and our planet. How great does it feel? It feels fricken fabulous!! I hope this helps Kelly, and I promise to be here to support you and share and educate so that perhaps this will be the last lifestyle adjustment you ever make:)

Hi Julie………. question.
Of all the books that you recommend reading re: the Alkaline diet and lifestyle…which one do you recommend starting with. I am interested in knowing how it works and where to start.
thankyou, I. Dickinson
Hi
I recommend Dr Robert O. Youngs “pH Miracle” in soft cover, it’s under $10. It’s complete and explains it well. That’s what I studied. There are others but I prefer his as he explains how to avoid disease by eliminating yeast, fungus and mold- no other alkaline guru’s really explore this or explain why or how and this is the key to eliminating your risk of disease. It all makes perfect sense when you understand his studies and his references to those before him who uncovered some of this info too. Very interesting and life changing. All of his other books are worthwhile too. They are in the right hand side bar on our blog. Thanks for your inquiry:)
Hi Ladies,
I juice beets along with carrots and a little ginger a couple times a week. And, well although this is kind of an embarrasing question here goes… is it common that the beet juice turn everything – and I mean everything (!) bright red that is coming out of my body afterward? It almost looks like blood is in my stool and urine, I’m sure its not, but why isn’t my body assimulating it like other foods?
Thank you!
Melisa
Hi Melisa
Beets are so good for you- great that you enjoy them and yes, absolutely yes, they turn urine red! Don’t worry it’s completely normal and can take a while before it runs clear again.
While beets and carrots are very healthy they are two of the highest sugar content vegetables. Natural vegetable and fruit sugars are way better than sugar and artificial sugars but it is still sugar and your body still recognizes it as a sugar. If you can add green vegetables to your juicing regime, especially cucumbers it will alkalize much more and slowly as you become accustomed minimize the sweeter vegetables in percentage in your juice recipe. You will feel more energized and won’t have a sugar crash- which can happen after a pure carrot juice as it is so concentrated with sugar.
Thanx for being so open as to ask a question -we love to help where ever we can:)
Hi, Julie.
I have been food combining in addition to eating “the alkaline way” for several months now. I do feel good but attribute a lot of that to eating fruits by themselves and not mixing starches with animal proteins.
I notice your recipes combine foods and would like to get your opinon on food combining.
Many thanks,
Lynne
p.s. I love your blog. It’s beautifully assembled, the pictures are fabulous and your writing in friendly and easy to read.
Hi Lynn
I am a strong believer of food combining and have been for years since I read Suzanne Sommers books. I felt way better after every meal. Dr. Robert O. Young also highly suggests it as well and discusses the scientific reasons of fermentation if you do not combine properly which can be uncomfortable and make a mess of your digestion and your energy level. I food combine all of our family meals and when I entertain. Good for you for consciously combining properly. My only weakness is a bit of fruit in my salad now and again. It will combine okay if you don’t over do it I discovered of course. Many of the green smoothie folks on-line are mixing all kinds of things which I have tried–pineapple and romaine– disaster for me and my tummy. It makes perfect sense and if you can feel the difference then it’s the thing to do. My guys have a hard time with the meat and potato thing but they are used to it now and feel better for it. Thanx for your comment Lynnn:)
Hello,
I have been learning alot about balancing our bodies this summer. I wanted to know how do I start. I read that you detox for 3 days but what do you do then. I read on one of the bios that you did an eating routine for 3 months but what did that entail. Also, what did you do after the three months? I know that I need to get my body back in order. I feel that I have lost control on what is going on inside of it and it is reflecting on the outside. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Respectfully,
L. Garrison
L. Garrison Thanx kindly for your question, and of course we should have this outlined, I am close to having a tab for this complete. But essentially because I was a chronic case I did the 3 month cleanse to exit as many toxins and inflammation as possible by super hydrating every day with the water & super greens, 3-4 litres daily. I also ate and juiced completely raw (mostly vegetables) for most of that time frame and by week 4, slowly week by week added in 20% in seeds, then nuts, then grains, then proteins until I was eating a fine balance of 20% acidic & warmed foods and 80% raw veggies and some fruits which is the lifestyle I strive to maintain today. Honestly, it worked wonders. Looking back some days I had a hard time deciding what I was in the mood to eat but now I crave it all and everything that I make that is healthy and in a pinch I nibble on veggie sticks which I love with hummus or on their own. I learned to appreciate the natural flavour of real food vs always jazzing it up or cooking it til the nutrients no longer served me and my cravings for sugar & caffeine went away. I highly recommend Dr. Young’s book, The pH Miracle (in the side bar of the site) where he outlines this kind of a journey with recipes as well by his wife Shelley Young. It’s very beneficial to educate yourself thru the process as you will be more likely to stick with it if you mentally understand why as well and at the same time feel the benefits of relief and greater energy. Good luck and please stay in touch or holler for support if you need it!
Hi,
My sister told me about this alkalinesister website:-)
I am new to alkalizing, but it is something i will look into more, as i recently developed Interstitial Cystitis.
I bought ph test strips to check my urine and i am always acidic.
I have already changed my diet alot (cut out refined sugar, yeast, white flour and almost all wheat and very little meat). I eat alot of vegetables. This website has given me alot of inspiration!
What i wanted to know is:
If i eat mostly alkaline, will the ph test strip eventually go alkaline?
Even if i have things like lemon and apple cider vinegar?
Because traditionally the interstitial cystitis diet excludes citrus fruits and things like tomatoes, as they are said to aggrevate the bladder and give it an ‘acid wash’ (that is what it says on the IC diet page). (so far i haven’t had an alkaline test strip, even when including lemons).
But then i’ve read that even though citrus fruits are acidic first, the end product is alkaline.
Does that mean my urine will be alkaline?
How long will it take to change the ph of my urine?
Thank you very much,
The pictures on this website are amazing.
Claire
Hi Claire, thanx for your comment. From what I understand to really alkalize you need to flood the body with alkaline foods and liquids and your intake may not be substantial or alkaline enough to reach an alkaline test measurement at this point and with your acidic load. You are completely on the right track to minimize or eliminate your symptoms. I highly recommend the pHor salts and the supergreens and to use these liberally everyday with a gradual start to flood your system. You’d be surprised the wonders these two products can do to alkalize and eliminate toxins. The lemons are quite alkalizing even though some think otherwise but use them sparingly to see how you react-every body is different.
If you can possibly commit to eating 80% raw-lots of green, even if it’s just for a month or two and the balance of 20% in nuts seeds, whole grains and low sugar fruits like berries you’ll be amazed at how much further you will progress to a healthier state. I find Dr. Young’s blog quite fascinating and you may too especially his recent post here http://articlesofhealth.blogspot.com/ The length of time to adjust your urine pH is individual and based on your acidic nature and your alkaline intake. It will come around but patience and commitment is needed. Most importantly, your are smart to continue your quest to learn and educate yourself on this alkaline journey as you have by enquiring here as knowledge is power and will keep you motivated to continue- I recommend reading Dr. Young’s book The pH Miracle (in the side bar of our site) for further reliable knowledge. If you require an alkaline coach please let me know and I can refer you to one. All the best and keep me posted on your progress.
Hi Julie and Yvonne,
Thank you first off for being a tremendous resource on the benefits of Alkaline eating, I am so appreciative of you being available.
Although not confirmed by an OB, I believe I am in the beginning stages of menopause. I wanted to ask your opinion if I should adjust my juicing habits to accomodate the changes that are occuring in my body during this time in my life? Are there veges I can juice to aid with this transition? My current juicing habits include: carrots, lots of ginger, red kale, cucumbers, sometimes beets, sometimes dandelion greens, sometimes spinich.
As always, thank you for your insight!
Melisa
Hi Ladies,
I have quite the damaged body. I have spinal arthritis, four herniated discs, one of which is surgically fused. I have had my gallbladder removed and my stomach sewn up due to acid reflux and hiatal hernia. I am ready to change my diet in hopes of healing some of this damage, but I can’t afford anything extra in the budget to buy a juicer or a water filter. Would it be a good option to buy distilled water and put in the ph drops? I am also borderline diabetic. Should I stick to low starch vegetables for juicing?
Thanks.
Leisa, things can only get better now that you are taking the initiative to allow your body to heal from here on in versus adding further symptoms by not changing your diet. Congratulations for acknowledging that this may be a really great option, I’m excited for you:) If you focus on alkalizing in as many ways as possible, I would say that you will certainly start to feel better and gain more energy, bit by bit. I recommend you go easy and really pay attention to your body and the signs it gives. When a body is quite acidic it can sometimes feel a little worse -with flu like symptoms or cold symptoms- before feeling better, as it unloads toxins. If this happens, do your best to work thru it and flush it out with as much water as you can take in, up to 4 liters a day. Distilled water may be cleaner than tap but is nutrient deficient. The alkaline drops will certainly alkalize it but I really, really recommend that you find a way to afford the pHor salts that will be very instrumental in your healing-2x’s daily in water-they run about $35 a tub and will last about 30-45 days. I also really suggest the super greens in your water to alkalize all day long-there are 2 tub sizes available. Both products are at this link http://www.innerlightinc.com/ProductPage.aspx?ItemID=53&ID=alkalinesisters. If you did nothing else for a while but take these two products and used the drops in clean water which super hydrates and flushes your body of unwanted toxins and acids, you will notice big changes over even as short as 1-2 weeks. You could gradually add in more raw veggies each day and save up or ask for a juicer for Christmas. You can find models for as low as $99. I would avoid starchy or sweet veggies like beets and go easy on carrots when you juice. Most green veggies and cucumbers are excellent and greens like kale, although a bit strong so use sparingly, are amazingly good for you. If you think about your diet, you may now realize that is it nutrient deficient if you don’t eat more than 50 – 60% raw everyday. I recommend 70-80% raw daily, but you’ll get there. Cooked vegetables are fillers, their nutrients have been damaged. Our bodies must have abundant minerals and vitamins to function properly with strong immunities to fight disease. Vegetables are the transporter of minerals, absorbed from the earth, to our bodies. Buy organic as much as you can budget on the things that count. Google the worst offenders. Once you begin juicing you will find it even easier to incorporate veggies at every meal. In the mean time you can make excellent green smoothies for some meals. I often use avocado, cucumber, kale, green apple, some fresh lemon or lime juice, ginger and I add protein from hemp nuts. You can experiment but only use low low sugar fruits like berries-green apples aren’t too sweet and no dairy. I use almond milk or unsweetened coconut water or just good water. Only sweeten with stevia.
I found this alkalizing filtering water jug-the first one I’ve ever seen at this link http://www.energiseforlife.com/item–Alkaline-Water-Jug–ALKJUG.html. Check it out-ships from the UK. Most alkaline filter systems are hundreds or near 2K so this will do a fine job with your tap water until one day you may want to invest in more. Buying distilled water will add up quickly. I suggest reading Dr. Young’s book, The pH Miracle for more info and even recipes, paperback is under $10.
I must say to please follow my suggestions at your own risk, as I am can not be responsible for your outcome as each body is different and responds differently to a change in diet.
I wish you much success and holler if you need more support. I have an alkaline consultant I can recommend if you wish too.
Julie
Hi Julie,
I ordered and received dr. Young’s ‘the Ph miracle’ a couple of days ago and i am enjoying reading it.
Since i’m eating alot of vegetables and whole grains, i think my intake of fibre is very high. There is no alkaline expert i have access to, so I hope you don’t mind me asking this question. My stools now often have a loose consistency (almost diarrhoea) and i empty my colon once or twice a day. I am worried that nutrients are just ‘flushing’ through my system and that my body is not able to absorb all nutrients.
Do more people who go alkaline have this symptom of loose stools?
Also some vegetables (broccoli, cabbage) make me really bloated straight after i’ve eaten them. Should i avoid the vegetables that make me bloated?
Thank you!
Claire
Claire, thanx for your questions. I’m not sure how long it has been since you altered your diet but if it is fairly recent say a few weeks your symptoms are most likely the detoxing of your body and this can take time–it will be different depending on how acidic the body is–perhaps 2 weeks or more, I can’t really say. A normal stool should be slightly firm, not soft, not liquid, and not with any undigested food particles. There should be no digestive complaints such as abdominal cramps, burping or gas, burning feelings in the stomach, heaviness or fatigue after meals. I would pay close attention to your body and see if it slowly improves. If not you may require supplementation to adjust the way your body absorbs or digests or perhaps a live blood test to identify what tweaking your diet requires. With an optimally healthy colon there should be as many bowel movements as substantial meals eaten each day. When changing your diet it can take a while for your body to develop a rhythm and empty consistently in this manner and your dietary fluxuations can also adjust this pattern. Knowing what your body needs each day will become easier the more attention you pay. Keeping a journal might be helpful. As I can only answer so much, if you require further info, I recommend an alkaline consultant who is available by telephone with a free initial 30 min call. He is highly educated and has worked with an array of symptoms and can give you guidance if you need. Please email me if you would like more info. Regarding the veggies you find tricky, you may not be ready for them as your body gives signs of what it is ready for and what it is not. Listen to it and try these veggies again at a later date. What also might happen is you might one day have a craving for broccoli and then you will probably digest it better. Also if you are eating it raw, try it lightly steamed to see if this is any better. You can also try these veggies juiced in small quantities in a nice mixed veggie drink to see if you can get the valuable nutrients this way. Good luck to you and keep me posted. I have to say… please accept this information at your own risk.
Julie
Thank you Julie for all this useful information.
I want to buy a green drink, but am a bit confused. Should i get DocBroc power plants or innerlight supergreens?
I will also buy a masticating juicer. Is there a specific brand you recommend?
I recently received results from a IGg food intolerance test, and it turns out that i am intolerant to many different foods; eggs, cows milk, yeast, wheat, gluten, cashew nuts, hazel nuts…At least some of these are avoided when eating alkaline too, so now i have even more of an incentive to avoid them. At the moment i am trying to figure out what i CAN still eat!
Thank you,
Claire
Hi,
How can I calculate the calories in my daily juicing? This might sound like an odd question, but are the calories the same if I eat the vegetable vs juice it?
Thank you!
Melisa
HI Melisa
I found this paragraph for you below. Some people count calories but I have found it completely unnecessary when you adapt an alkaline lifestyle. If you maintain a 70-80% daily ratio of raw greens and veggies and the balance in healthy nuts, seeds, low sugar fruits, proteins, and warmed foods you will never have to count calories again. If you are looking to find your healthy, ideal weight there is no better way. You body will automatically find it’s optimal weight and easily shed any extra pounds. Essentially juicing is a great way to add an extra serving of veggies and concentrated, easily assimilated nutrients but the fiber from whole veggies thru the day is just as important, so juicing, blending and eating whole, raw & lightly steamed veggies are all beneficial.
“Vegetables generally contain less sugar and fewer calories than fruits. Low-calorie options for juicing include greens, at 68 calories per cup, and cucumber, at 12 calories per cup. Tomatoes are another good choice, with 1 cup of tomato juice containing a mere 48 calories. If juice from these vegetables is too bitter for your taste, consider some of the higher-sugar vegetables, such as carrots. Just make sure to account for their higher calorie-content; carrot juice has 96 calories per cup”. Always include dark green veggies tho as these are the highest in nutrients.

Good Luck!
Julie
Julie, It was so great to spend those few days with you at Jo’s. Thank you for teaching us so much. I have The pH Miracle and plan to get started. One question (I am sure I will have others)
Can you put the pH drops in a gallon of water for the whole day, or do they need to put in a glass just before you drink it. Thanks again, I so enjoyed meeting you. Judy
Judy, Thank you for your enthusiasm and determination to be the best you can be! The pH drops can last a while but the fresher the better. It only takes a moment so at the time of drinking is best or for your water bottle on the road to be drank within hours is fine. Please don’t hesitate to holler with any questions. It’s my pleasure to guide and inspire you on your journey.
I’m curious about apples. My physician recommended your website to me to assist with my new dietary “make-over”. I notice that apples are not included in your food list. Please explain… I love my apples!
Hi Lori, Apples are on the acidic side, but don’t worry… you can still have them! An alkaline lifestyle is all about balancing your acidic choices with alkaline foods and maintaining whole food as the basis for all food. A balance of approx 70% alkaline foods with 30% acidic foods will ensure you have a healthy balance of the right foods to overcome symptoms and increase vitality. An apple is by far a better choice than any processed snack. I like to juice an apple in my green morning juice for a little sweeter version and it makes it easier for kids to drink their greens. Most fruit has a sugar content making them acidic but in moderation you will be fine. Just be sure not to have processed fruit juices and canned fruit. Make it fresh, always, and go easy on the tropical fruits that are much higher in sugar and enjoy low sugar fruits like most berries, green apples, firm pears & pink grapefruits. One last thing, fruits are the quickest food your system can digest so are best eaten on their own or in real moderation with greens. Eaten with any grains, and proteins they will ferment and cause digestion issues. Good luck to you, keep me posted on your progress:) and thanx to your physician for recommending alkaline sisters!
OK, I have been on a long journey of major weight loss… over 100 pounds lost to date. I am struggling with the last 20 pounds and have been eating very clean and exercising 6 days a week. My doctor suggested your website and I am trying to educate myself on your methods. I have a important question for you that I’m sure many, many women would like to know the answer to. IS IT POSSIBLE WITH CLEAN EATING HABITS AND A HEALTHY EXERCISE PROGRAM TO REDUCE CELLULITE? Is massage helpful? I have been reading about the SudaTonic System. What can you tell me about the whole cellulite nightmare.
Hi Lori, congratulations to you!!! You are almost there, so don’t get frustrated. It’s normal to plateau for a while as your body adjusts to it’s new profile. Remember to always keep the real reason for your new lifestyle in plain view- to be healthier! Your weight will follow if you do it for your health and not for vanity. The cellulite will eventually go but remember that it took a very long time for it to appear and it takes time for it to disappear. But you seem to be doing all the right things so keep it up as you are already being rewarded with vitality and a clean body and your risk of disease may be completely gone for you versus one year ago- this is HUGE! Do you dry brush your skin? This really helps detox and reduce cellulite so begin a routine today if you haven’t already and this will work wonders in more ways than one. This dry brushing how to is excellent-read point #3!! I also found this article that my shed a little light for you. Let me know how you do. Just heading for my dry brushing and my shower right now!
Hi Julie,
I’ve peeked at your site tons, and I’ve heard/read amazing things from Britt and Rae about your lifestyle and dietary change (I coach for Barb…I’ve probably seen you around the gym!) Over the past few years I’ve been trying various methods of “getting healthier” and nothing seems to stick. I realize I can’t make a complete change overnight (although my impulsive tendencies seem to always want that…), so I think my first step should be to kick the coffee habit I picked up 4 years ago. I’ve read your posts on ceasing coffee intake but I’m wondering if you can lend some more advice?
Thanks!
Karley
Hi Karley. Be kind to yourself and your cravings for caffeine if you are really having a hard time. If you can’t go cold turkey then just cut back a little each day but have a goal and a plan of how much and at what date you want to be down to one cup and down to no cups and then shoot for it. Do the best you possibly can but don’t beat yourself up if you slip a little. Recognize the progress you have made. You need to find healthy replacements that taste great to you that you can enjoy instead. I love juiced veggies and green smoothies in the morning at home and hardly desire a coffee anymore but it’s hard to find juice in a coffee bar if you are socializing. I replaced coffee with herbal tea cuz I feel way better having it over coffee. I still have the occasional decaf almond milk latte and it’s a real treat and a choice but I don’t ‘need’ coffee. This is where you want to be. Bottom line you have to REALLY want to be healthy for any lifestyle change to stick. I found that educating myself on the reasons for eating healthier made me motivated to stick with it. Choose a couple books from our side bar and start reading and you’ll be amazed at how passionate you become about a new lifestyle. That’s what Brit did but she was sick, so she was even more motivated. Keep me posted on your journey as I’d love to hear:)
Hello:
I too have back problems and fibromyalgia. Your story is very similiar to mine with the chiro, Pt, shots, meds, and now up to Opiods which I have fought but finally agreed to as I have just taken a demanding job. However, I am very interested in going on a raw diet, or SOME diet to get my body out of the acid level I am. I bought the Ph papers and am about as bad as it gets (nice and yellow still!).
My question: I am hearing all kinds of ways to go…..raw, vegan, etc. My “addiction” seems to be sugar and processed foods and tea….(wow, I was astounded to read how high that is for being alkaline. I recently purchased a juicer and want to try that first….go slow and work my way up to some sort of diet. Yet I am still confused with all the information I have viewed. Do you have any site that might specifically spell out in detail a diet (breakfast, lunch, dinner….sorta like a weight watcher’s but NOT the same) with guidelines to help me that would be easy to prepare as I have not alot of time during the day to help me get of of this awlful pain from both the back issues and the fibro?
Hi Patricia, up til now I just haven’t had time to do a menu plan but my suggestion is to get the Crazy Sexy Diet book by Chris Karr-she’s alkaline and reversed her cancer-and do her 21 day cleanse that is pretty doable and a great way to begin a new lifestyle. It has a daily step by step. Find a friend if you can and support each other or just go for it and keep me posted on your successes. I will get around to a menu plan as others have requested it but just haven’t quite yet. Thanks for your comment and good luck, you are doing the only thing that will heal your body-changing your diet!!
I was pretty excited when I found this website. I have been looking at vegan, raw diets and then this. I was ready to do the cleanse because I really wasn’t feeling well. I went shopping for ingredients and decided to get a juice while at the store. I got cucumber, beet and ginger. It was ok, but it did not make me feel any better. I felt worse. This is not unusual. I have tried juice a few times and my tummy always hurts afterwards and I usually only finish half. Is this something that’s common? I eat fairly healthy (vegetarian), but I do like iced tea. Can you get caffeine build up?
HI Heather, if you are not accustomed to drinking veggie juice it is a good idea to dilute them half with water for a while and build up the potency until you are feeling good with it. Every body is unique and some of us eat less enzyme filled raw veggies and have to work into them. Do try again and again and choose a different combination each time til you find what you like. Then you’ll be more convinced to buy a juicer cuz the combinations you can create are endless and really are delicious. I’ve fed finicky children who won’t eat anything green, some of my juices and I get a thumbs up from them. For a juice cleanse it is perfectly fine to dilute all your juices to make it easier in fact Dr. Robert O. Young suggests this in his book The pH Miracle. I understand that healthy vegetarian is better than eating meat proteins but how much is cooked or is meat replacement versus raw veggies? Slowly increasing your daily raw intake will help you become better at digesting the juice and will in turn increase your energy and well being. Caffeine will definitely make your system quite acidic and you have to slowly empty those abundant toxins. I hope you will give it another try. Please let me know:) Good luck!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. This blog is very inspiring to me.
Hello Julie & Yvonne,
Thanksgiving Day is just around the corner. I’m clueless about what kind of “Alkaline” Thanksgiving Dinner menu should be like? What do you normally serve Thanksgiving menu to your family/friends in the past? Any tips/suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
Warmest Regards,
Kathryn
HI Kathryn, Sorry I haven’t replied yet, I’ve been swamped with school studies! I’m even behind in posting -eek! I have a mix of eating styles to appease and sometimes I just decide to cook vegetarian or vegan and if they aren’t keen, so be it. But this year we did make a small hormone/antibiotic free, boneless turkey roast, but I don’t dine on this. I made a vegan gravy with coconut oil, spelt flour, veggie broth, garlic, spices and a bit of braggs or nama shoyu-it was yummy. I also separately roasted squash & sweet potatoes with cinnamon and coconut oil, sweetened with a bit of stevia powder or maple syrup. The kids like steamed carrots and frozen peas and we had a huge raw veggie plate and I served a big green salad. This is a very simple menu for those that don’t like complicated food and it is fairly well food combined. I sometimes steam potatoes but I try not to as it isn’t good food combining. I hope this helps. Later that evening I served a raw fruit crumble from my recipe collection. You can use any fruit, but you need to wait a couple hours before serving so it doesn’t ferment the previously eaten turkey! Though a healthy, low sugar, organic pumpkin pie wouldn’t hurt digestion, I don’t think!
I’m currently trying to eat healthier and cook healthier dinners for my family. However, some of your recipes seem a bit pricey. Do you have any simpler/cheaper recipes?
Hannah
Hi Julie,
I’ve been battling a bad case of sciatica pain since June and although the pains in my legs have diminished greatly, the pain has come back up to my upper thigh and lower hip region. I’m on a high alkaline diet with raw veggies and spirulina, chlorella & wheatgrass powders daily. The veggies change by what’s on sale but almost always use kale, spinach, parsley, cilantro & lettuce in varying amounts. I use stevia and xylitol for sweetener now also.
I read an article today re too much iron in our diet is very dangerous as it can cause arthritis or cancer, etc. It said 18 mgs is the high end of amt to take, and older folks like myself would do well to have less than 8 mgs a day. Well, all this green food is loaded with iron. I’m getting anywhere from 30-40 mgs a day and now worried this is causing my sciatica pain or exacerbating it, although I do not have any of the common symptoms.
What do you think? I’m told we can’t get rid of iron, yikes.
Regards,
Trumpshead, What I understand is that you can’t over dose on veggies and their nutrients. Our body wants and craves these authentic nutrients. I’m thinking that perhaps synthetic forms or poor forms taken thru supplements is more what they are talking about versus what a vegetable delivers. My recommendation if you are worried, is to have a hair analysis done that will completely reveal your current state of nutrient levels (very accurate as this is where DNA is found) and you will then have a wonderful tool to help you balance these nutrients (with the help of a the consultant who can decipher the levels and what’s safe) that will help with your sciatica. I would also have a live blood analysis done that will show you what else you can do to completely rid yourself of the dreaded sciatica- this was most valuable and I do it 2x’s yearly instead of a doctors check up! Add to this, strengthening exercises once you are able or in a slow progression to balance the muscles in front to the backside of your body and build core and spinal strength and I see you living pain free soon! You most certainly are doing the best thing possible for your body and are reducing inflammation which does take time to build and will take time to undo. Keep it up, you can do it!!! (ps. I don’t do chlorella and spirulina as DR. Young considers them a fungus so I only do grasses, esp wheat grass. Also, drink alkaline water and flush the toxins with 3-4 liters a day, this will reduce inflammation faster. A juice feast was also very helpful for me. There’s one on the site here I feel for you cuz I know how nasty it is and how debilitating it is. Stay in touch so I can support you:)
Hi Julie,
I attended your session at the yoUnlimited conference. I have made a few of your green smoothies since then and love them!
I remember you mentioned a blood doctor who can provide great insights into your state of health. Can you email on the name and contact of this doctor?
Thanks!
hello. your website is great – just the inspiration i need atm. i would love to have a book also to read as i find it more difficult to work with websites (still a book girl!). perhaps you could tell me if there is a single book which covers the same ground as you, or certaily some recipe book for eating raw/alkaline . . . i don’t think you have one although i have subscribed to your blog. you must certainly know your way around the literature for eating raw/alkaline thank! catherine
Catherine, thank you, so glad to inspire you! I do not have a book YET, but one day!! It’s a top goal for me once I finish my holistic nutrition studies-sooo glad you are still I book girl, cuz I am too!. I would suggest for the best source of alkaline info pick up Dr. Robert O. Youngs book, The pH Miracle, it’s brilliant. Also, I enjoy the Crazy Sexy Diet as she follows a pretty alkaline lifestyle and it’s a fun, cheeky book to flip thru at any page for info on a complete lifestyle. She does still use algae and vinegar I believe which Dr. Young does not, but otherwise she has a good, fun thing going on, and she pretty much cured her cancer with her lifestyle and diet, so that speaks volumes! Both books are in my right hand column. Cheers:)
Hi, really like the info on your site. I am considering changing my diet for 2012. Thanks for the inspiration. I was wondering what camera and software do you use for your beautiful pictures? Have a great day.
Hi Helene, I splurged on a canon 5D cuz I plan to publish my images at some point so I wanted the highest possible quality. I shoot in raw and use Lightroom for editing:) Your shots are looking pretty good with what ever camera you use! All the best!
I have a question… If the body will automatically regulate its PH balance (although through loss of minerals), wouldn’t the test strips always read that you’re balanced?
HI Diane, your pH question is a good one. The body will balance the pH of the blood by stealing minerals from other areas like the bones and organs because it is vital that our blood be maintained at 7.365. But there are other varying pH levels within our body that also need to be maintained but have greater fluctuation like our urine and reflect quite directly the food we consume. If we eat an acidic diet for a prolonged time it will eventually make small incremental changes to our blood making it more acidic and the smallest variation in our blood = big problems like disease. So the urine will reflect a pH variation of your diet but the blood will struggle to maintain homeostasis for pure survival every moment we live and breath as best that it can even if it means depleting other organs, thus also the reason incidence of disease occurs. I hope this makes sense for you. I found this link that you may find interesting with a few mini courses of about 30 slides each on a few pH/health topics. It’s very simply put and easy to understand if you wish more info.
Hi Ladies,
What an amazing site. Thank you so much for the knowledge. I am on the path to changing my life-style and would love to really get into juicing . That being said, I tried my first green juice and felt really sick. The taste was. . . not what I hoped for. Do you have any suggestions? Is is just getting used to juice?
I’d appreciate any advice,
Helen
Hi Helen, yes you had a case of the “not so used to raw & green” going on. A couple things…. slowly start including more serious greens in your diet like kale, chard, spinach, begin with sauteed versions, and you can then have some in salads, maybe a little blended in smoothies and if you are going to keep trying green juice which I highly recommend, then dilute it with water 50% and it will be much easier to manage in small amounts until you adjust. Don’t give up, cuz it’s incredibly good for you and part of a healthy lifestyle that will help you avoid disease.
Hi Julie,
I know you must be super busy with your studies but I have a few tiny questions if you find a second to answer I woud appreciate it so much!
1) Do you have any more go-to alkaline/vegan cookbooks aside from Crazy Sexy Diet that you love to use? I want to invest in a few cook books.
2) I am currently eating a vegan diet and am so keen to launch into the alkaline programme but I am also still in my 20s and trying to balance this with enjoying social things with my friends… my question is when celebrating/on a night out, what would be the least toxic alcoholic beverage? I guess wine is pretty acidic – I feel awful after drinking it these days. Would vodka or gin be any better? *please say gin, I love my G&T!….
Thanks in advance
HI Ruth, I would agree that a Gin & tonic or soda is better than wine or sugary drinks as it is more pure and with our the sugar. You can also try mojitos with alkalizing real lime juice and tequila and mint with soda, not 7up. I sometime sweeten with stevia if you carry some with you at all. I have many many books for inspiration but I don’t actually cook out of them since I create my own recipes. However, if you want alkaline recipes, you can look at these by Dr. Young’s wife Shelley. There is also this book that I have as well. One day I will have one for you too:)
Great! I cannot wait until you publish one!
Your recipes also use a lot of hemp nuts, which I am unable to get here in Australia, can you suggest an alternative?
Thanks and many best wishes
Hi, I have just added water kefir to my diet for intestinal health. Since it is a “fermented” beverage, is it contrary to the alkaline diet? Also, what about raw cacao? Thanks!
Janice, I’m not big on fermented foods for the fungus and molds that develop, I agree with Dr. Young on this level. However, many use this protocol. Dr. Young beleives that with alkalizing we can bring back the health of our own digestive elements as we produce all that we need in the right proportion to digest our food. I’m okay with supplementing with enzymes and probiotics short term to return to normal gut health but perhaps not endlessly. Raw cacao is still a stimulant. Use it sparingly, it has caffeine but it also has magnesium and other nutrients so it’s not the worst. Some folks like David Wolfe are huge believers. Some people really react to it as though they’ve had coffee so it can’t be used freely like a health food if it does this to the system. That’s my take and I luuuv chocolate. Moderation is key:)
Hi Julie,
I am writing after commencing a cleanse on 28 Feb, it is now the 23rd of March. I decided I needed a change after a good friend died of cancer at 55 years old. He never did chemo or radiation or had any major surgery, he was diagnosed 4 years before and lived a full and vigorous life up till two weeks prior to his death. I’m not saying this method works for everyone, but it worked for him. The one thing I took away from our discussions is when he stated he watched his health and what he ate up till 8 months ago when he just sort of let go… So, the last time I saw him I told him he taught me a lesson … to take care of my body.
I have been following your website and did a juice feast before, but never continued an alkaline diet. This time I have. Of course, your website is my bible (if I can use that term) and is always up on my computer by the kitchen.
What are the results, I have lost weight, bought a new pair of jeans around the beginning of the month and they are almost too loose to wear now. I had sleep apnea really bad (you can ask my fiance, Jo-Ann! Within 5 days of commencing the feast, my sleep apnea disappeared and hasn’t come back. I am asthmatic and needed an inhaler…it is gone, not required. One interesting note, after about the 5th day or so we were sitting on the couch and I felt something odd happening in my chest, I was assessing whether or not it was a good or bad thing when I realized it was like my lungs popped open! Interesting when I met with a good friend who works with people with COPD and sleep apnea, I told him about the results…and expecting great support, I was surprised when he dismissed my results stating that it was not scientifically possible! Sleep apnea is a soft tissue issue…when I stated that if it is a soft tissue issue and the inflammation ceased, doesn’t that seem to be a
possibility…he wouldn’t here of it…stating he took 4 years of training and this was not possible…I told him he could ask Jo-Ann who can CLEARLY testify that she now sleeps better as do I with no sleep apnea. I am now weaning myself off a very strong arthitis drug, Arthritec, which in itself has sided effects of ruining my kidneys after extended use.
So, I am still on my journey, I feel fantastic, and will continue. Just want to say thanks for the outstanding website and information…and of course, the delicious recipes.
Rob
Hey Rob
Thanx so kindly for the lovely email!
Messages like yours inspire me to move further with my journey of sharing this info.
If you can convince your friend to read The pH Miracle maybe the scientist, Dr. Young can shed some light on an area he has not considered, healing with alkalinity!
The testimonials and living proof from Dr. Young are amazing and yours is one of them.
So glad that things are working out for you! Keep up the good work- hi to Joanne:)
Julie
Hi Julie,
Today I made a soup with alkaline vegetables and the mash that I had been freezing from my juicing, is that ok, is it still considered alkaline if it’s cooked in a soup? I hated the thought of tossing out my mash so I’ve been freezing it.
Thanks,
Shelley
Shelley, yes by all means you can use the mash or the pulp to make a soup or some stock. It will be less alkaline for sure because the enzymes will be lost in cooking as will the water soluble vitamins but the minerals are not heat sensitive so you will gain those benefits. Just have a salad with your soup to make up for lost nutrients and you will be good to go and maintain a nice alkaline balance for that meal! Thanx for stopping in:)
ps. you can also use a dehydrator to make crackers and pizza crusts- yummy!
Hi Julie,
I love your site and you have inspired not only me but my brother and sister in-law to have a live blood analysis.
I do have a question for you, I drink the Super Greens every day and like to have it as a tea during the day. Will the warm/hot (not piping hot) water reduce the nutrient value of the Super Greens?
Thank you for creating such an wonderful site, I refer to it daily.
Teresa
Teresa
Hey Theresa:) How are you?? So nice to hear from you! Glad you are drinking the greens but yes they are best at room temp or in the warmest water being only 118 F as it damages the vitamins and enzymes. If you have a thermometer you can use it if you prefer it warm but room temp may be ideal if you can’t measure as it is a very low temperature but it is warm enough to feel hot but you don’t want to ruin your healthy greens:) I love how living an alkaline lifestyle is catchy! Yay Marilyn too! Keep me posted on your progress I’d love to hear how you are doing! Thanx for stopping in:)
Hi!
I was wondering on what you’re basing the numbers in your alkaline foods chart?
Thanks,
Sebastian
Sebastian. this is from Dr. Robert O.Young’s book the pH miracle. It is the measure of alkaline ash left once your body metabolizes the foods. He has measured this ash food by food I believe. The greater the positive number the better it is for you:)
Hi! First I want to start off by saying how wonderful your site is and how helpful it has been coming from someone who was not very knowledgeable about the whole alkaline diet before. I recently got tested for mono and ended up posititive. Bad thing about this sickness is there is no drug or pharmaceutical cure for it…it’s up to you and your body to beat it. I was talking to my yoga instructor about it and she recommended I start on an alkaline based diet as it will help boost my immune system. I am going driving a long distance in a few days so cooking my own foods is not likely. I was wondering if you could recommend any good grocery store products (in addition to raw produce) that company’s have out that I could grab along the road to eat while maintaining an alkaline diet. Thanks so much!
Melissa, I use my iphone to find health food stores, or whole foods or grocery stores for real food. In a pinch, have salad and some of the yummy veggie side dishes in restaurants, these can be so darn yummy! I like to travel with my chia seeds and a tetra of almond milk and some cinnamon, stevia and a few raisins and almonds and maybe sunflower seeds. I soak the chia in the morning while I get ready for 30-40 mins and add the goodies. So yummy and filling. See my chia post here for recipe. Also a Vega shake is easy in a hotel room too! Hope this helps:) Have a safe trip
I have been using almond milk in making smoothies but it seems that my stomach does not take to almond milk…is this transitional?
It could be the carrageenan that is a stabilizer to help bind the particles. Some people have issues/sensitivities with this. I don’t think it is transitioning. You could have a toxic buildup that makes you sensitive to a myriad of things. But doing a cleanse will reduce your toxic load and empty your toxic bucket leaving more room for toleration of certain things. This is how some people have allergies that seem to go- it’s relevant to what level your bucket is already filled to if this makes any sense. I would switch to unsweetened coconut water. I like the brand called Beyond, it tastes the nicest as it must be pasteurized at a lower temperature. Ideally, find fresh frozen pure unpasteurized coconut water or open a coconut:) Cheers.
Hi Julie, I am looking for a way to drink alkaline water, but don’t want to spend alot of money. Can you help me with this? Thank You Christy
What a neat website! My husband shaired it with me today & off to the market we went!
We made our first alkaline smoothy (very green!) I liked it! Hubby wasn’t as ‘likey’ as I was. 🙂
I do have a question though. About 15 minutes after drinking it, my cheeks became very flush, my tummy was warm and I felt very warm all over! Is this normal? How long does this ‘green smoothy warmth’ go?
Looking forward to trying more from your website.
HUGS!
Sputnicseven, I imagine that many people respond differently to detoxing and this is what may have been happening. You may need to go slowly and use more water or drink water along side it to dilute it. Let me know how it goes:)
I would love to know what holistic nutrition course your taking? Sounds fascinating.
Hi Elle, I am studying in Vancouver B.C. at IHN, Instititute of Holistic Nutrition. If you don’t live near, I have a friend who has had a good experience with IIN Instititute for Integrated Nutrition and this is an online program you take from anywhere in the world. Good luck:)
Hi Ivonne & Julie,
I’ve been juicing greens for about 2 years now, in the mornings 5 days a week, and take weekends off. My drinks tend to be about 20 oz or so. I know it would be ‘best’ to break this up a bit and juice 2x’s a day, but in my schedule, its just not possible, so I guess my question is… does the body still get the detox/cleansing qualities even though it’s all at once? And, when I take weekends off does that un-do the benefits I’ve reaped all week? (I’m not a meat eater even on weekends so I don’t think I’m completely blowing it, but really don’t know!) Thanks for your insight!
Melisa
Hi Melisa, Congrats on a great routine, juicing is an awesome way to stay health, alkalized and flush toxins. I sometimes drink up to 20oz at once and I feel fabulous for it so I have no problems with you enjoying a large drink. But I can’t take weekends off cuz I crave my juice!! I love my morning juice! But of course, you will still greatly benefit from a large serving – detoxing & cleansing. I really believe that balancing your alkaline intake should be meal by meal or at the least find a balance over the entire day. 70% alkaline to 30% acidic is a good goal, so your juice helps alkalize your day, big time! If you are at all likely to have an alcoholic beverage on the weekends this is one reason you might consider juicing weekends too so you can flush these toxins after enjoying say a glass of wine:) Cheers!
Hi Alkaline Sisters.
Do you think strawberries and chocolate are alkaline?
Inger, strawberries are slightly acidic because they contain some natural sugar and only raw cacao nibs or powder might be alkaline but any sugar in chocolate acidifies it.
Hi Julie, I’ve been reading a little about the advantages of an alkaline diet & I’m excited to find your site. Your recipes look wonderful! I wondering about books – what is the best starter book on this subject & is there a book that would give information on the process of balancing a diet (70%/30%) and would provide examples of a daily meal plan?
Carol
Carol, read Dr. Robert O. Young’s The pH Miracle
Julie, I think I found the answer to my 1st question – the PH Miracle – and I have ordered a copy. I’m still curious about menu planning. Another question concerns greens from my spring garden (kale, bok choy, chard) that I froze by washing & drying & freezing in zip-lock bags. The greens get crumbly when frozen & you can easily pull out a handful. Would I get the same benefit using these greens in a green smoothie? I live in a small town & I can’t always get fresh greens year round.
Carol
Carol, by all means fresh frozen is perfectly fine for you. Fresh is ideal but frozen is next best.
Would you recommend using ph drops or ph filter to bring water ph up?
Can this work adding organic chickenin also?
Love your site.
Sunshine, I recommend drinking clean pure water, so if you can filter your water that is great. If you can then alkalize that is optimal! either a filter to do this or drops, both will work depending on your budget. Organic chicken can make up your 20-30% acidic food intake for the day, but try to not make meat a daily ocurance if possible.
Dear Alkaline Sisters,
I am 48 & suffering from Eczema since long time, obesity, fatigue etc. I feel my body is Acidic. Please suggest me a suitable diet plan. Thanking you!
Hi Imtiyaz. I recommend reading Dr. Robert O. Young’s PH Miracle book for all the details. Otherwise see the alkaline food chart on the site for foods to eat and then enjoy 80% alkaline and 20% acidic. I would have live blood analysis and a hair analysis done to pin point your deficiencies. and then you will be fine if you change your diet and improve your digestion with the help of a holistic nutritionist.
hi. ive had some health issues last several months. possible Habba Syndrome, possible reaction to a medication and im planning to discuss this with the prescribing doc. but ive been waking up with a very bloated acidy stomach. burping and passing gas helps minimally, but im also having a lot of heartburn. after doing a lot of reading and just knowing that opposite of acid is alkaline, im having some apple cider vinegar diluted in water b4 bed. am i on the right track? antacid tablits just make me more nauseous most of the time so im trying to wean off and onto something more natural. would appreciate a reply if possible to my email addy. thanks.
Carol
Carol, sorry I may have missed your comment. I highly recommend you see a nutritionist or naturopath and perhaps have your live blood analysis done to determine exactly what is up. I prefer to heal the gut with this protocol. It is important to consider your digestion which determines if you are absorbing your nutrients. Most of us have very poor digestion. I imagine you have low stomach acid contrary to what doctors may have told you. If I were you I would take Betaine HCL with my meals to increase stomach acid and this may truly help your acid reflux. For good measure I would also take a full spectrum enzyme tablet with every single meal including smoothies, and use probiotics for at least 30 days and… have protein at every meal with two meals perhaps a protein powder like an organic brown rice protein or I like pumpkin seed protein powder which I put into a purely green veggie smoothie- this is just lots of green veggies and water blended essentially-you can season with fresh mint ginger lemon or lime and stevia if you need sweet-no fruit.
It is important to also have good oils like a 3-6-9 omega supplement daily as well and use good oils like a spoonful of organic cold pressed coconut oil in your smoothie and hemp oil on your salads for dinner or lunch meals.
Hope this is helpful. Now please note that you may be deficient in other nutrients that I can not pin point so blood analysis and hair analysis are so valuable to identify this for you with great accuracy.
julie
Hi Julie,
Where I can buy manna bread?
Warm regards
Edyta
Edyta, you may find it in typical grocery stores but it will be in the freezer, otherwise a health food store may have it. Whole Foods carries it for sure, in the freezer.
Hi Edyta, i usually find it at Whole Foods or Thrifty Foods or a health food store in my area in the “freezer section”.
hi. your site has been a lot of help to me since i decided to sort out my health! i’ve been eating mostly fruit and veg since i began about 2 weeks ago. i haven’t completely cut out grains and dairy but i’m eating CONSIDERABLY less than before. those to things were my biggest weakness actually! i am a bit surprised that i haven’t lost much weight in this time. previously if i ever went on any diet i would see results early on. any comments on this? although my main incentive for going alkaline was improved health i must admit that i’m disappointed at not shedding a few pounds in the process! thanking you in advance for any suggestions or advice
Tina, Sorry so late in responding, between school and summer vacation I’ve been MIA! I hope you have still been exploring this lifestyle as it truly is an ideal way to improve your health and shed pounds. However, every body responds differently. A real shift toward a high intake of veggies and 3-4 liters of water per day is typically a good way to cleanse the body and begin to shed weight as water and green juices or powders help to kind of flush fat cells. Initially, my jump start began with juicing for 3 days which seemed to wake up my metabolism. If your weight doesn’t seem to move I suggest a thyroid assessment with a holistic practitioner who can help identify if this is a factor since your body will think it is starving and hold onto the weight you are trying to lose. A doctor might also do tests but they test for different markers and may suggest prescription drugs which may not be what you need and can further complicate your health with side effects. Please beware of this and do your research as I believe you can certainly solve thyroid issues without medications.
Hi, Has anyone heard of taking baking soda (aluminum free) daily to help keep our bodies in an alkaline state. Thanks for any info Lainie
Hi Girls, I sometimes get confused because depending on what article or site I’m researching on foods that are alkaline and those that are not. Some articles say tomatoes are acidic others say no , some say almonds are acidic others say no. How do I differentiate on what is and what is not HELP!!/ Thanks for your time Lainie
The alkaline chart I follow is in my opinion the most accurate as it gives the actual measurement of the degree of alkalinity with a number that is positive for alkaline and a negative for the acidic foods. The higher the positive number the greater degree of alkaline ash – positive effect it has on the body. This study is where the calculation was determined showing the alkalinity or acidic nature of urine after ingesting foods which is an indication of the affects of that food on the body’s fluids. This is just the abstract of the entire study but I studied it in my research class. The full article is available for viewing at any medical library or by membership to pubmed.
Take a look at the chart on our site and you will see what I am referring to and it will clearly indicate tomatoes and almonds. Not every food is listed but generally you can get a pretty good idea by recognizing that most vegetables esp green ones are alkaline and are the best choices. I hope this helps.
Hi, I need more information on alkaline water please.. How can I make affordable alkaline water at home? What filter should I use and which drops do you suggest? I have been looking on the internet and it throws too much info at me.. Can you please simplify this for me by giving me the names of the products you normally use for alkaline water?
Thanks!
IC
Hi IC, You can add these alkaline drops to add minerals back to your water or use a brine of soaked Himlayan
salt Rocks. Soak a few rocks with filered water, continuously in a jar creating a brine, and add just a teaspoon to your glass of water with lemon (preferably the lemon w/rind has soaked over night in water). You can also use this affordable & simple portable system that I’ve heard good things about but have not tried yet. Hope this is helpful:)
