Hi! I was wondering how to find the PH of my own body. I sm inspired by your story,Julie, as I have suffered with a ruptured disc for over a year and a half now. I am a professional modern dancer and truly hope to find a way to dance onstage again!

Thanks,
Loren

Loren, I recommend using pH tape or strips. Greens + has a roll usually alongside their products. You use the strips to test your urine thru the day to see the cycle of acidic nature that you are flushing thru. The more alkaline the better especially for your 2nd urine of the day. The first is the flush from yesterdays intake and the 2nd is more of a measure where you presently are at that given time. Alkaline water, alkalizing mineral salts like pHor salts and alkaline foods all contribute to creating an alkaline environment in the body and to help flush acidic nature and toxins, promoting a healthy alkaline lifestyle. Alkalizing heals the body and gives it what it needs to eliminate inflammation which will help to heal and reduce the pain of your disc. I believe you can improve your disc–your body was designed to heal itself provided you give it the tools it needs to do so!

Hi there Julie, thanks so much for your posts. I was wondering what a suitable alkaline pH range for urine is (that is, with an alkaline lifestyle)? Is anything above 7.5 appropriate? I have only just started my alkaline diet but am unsure how high a pH in urine is achievable/appropriate? Many thanks 🙂

Sylvia, yes you are quite close, anything over 7.2ish is a good place to be.

I was researching on how to reduce acid naturally and came across the site. I am curious what is your advice to eat.. I get acid reflex related to gas required to burp and it is consent burping… I don’t like taking medication.. I need something that would allow me to sleep peacefully since it always happen before bed .. More about that .. I do not eat before bed.. But I do get the taste of my last bite at times. Thanks

John, I suggest using digestive enzymes with your meals. You may also be low in HCL and need some betaine. Google how to test for low HCL (hydrochloric acid) and do the test to know if you need to supplement at meals. Alkalizing your diet will surely improve your digestive track. I suggest also to use alkaline mineral salts 2x’s per day. Phor Salts are great, google supplier called Innerlight to see if they ship to you. All the best.

Right now, I’m on hypertension and thyroid medication. Are all medications acidic? Even if you follow an alkaline diet, can you counteract the effect of these medications? Thank you!

admin August 24, 2013 at 2:59 pm

Yes! All medications are acidic and most of them are unecessary in my honest opinion. Blood pressure and thyroid issues can be effectively managed with dietary changes. If you are diligent and work with a health coach you could get off them. Long term medications lead you to further diseases that are caused by the accumulative effects of the drugs. An alkaline lifestyle can only counteract so much when it is bombarded with acids. It will most certainly help and you will see other symptoms improve but you won’t get ahead. Our bodily functions produce acids that need flushing as well as environmental toxins that we are exposed to daily are constantly needing an alkaline balance to manage. So you see it is a constant process even without medications. But good for you for asking the question. You are on the right journey.

I found your website under a you tube video titled “Acid vs Alkaline”. The video showed a handy Food Target which I would like to purchase. Can you email the info to me that I need to purchase one? BTW my daughter was treated at Dr Robert Young’s ranch and she did well. She is juicing and I would like to join her. It makes sense. Thank you.

You have the most visually inviting and inspiring home page I have ever clicked to. I am inspired and excited to start my alkaline journey. I am trying to combat roseca, 7 months post partum with twins. I’d rather adjust my diet then have laser work done , at this point.

In my quest to turn my body pH to the alkaline side, I have been using pH stest strips from Enzymedica. They work well for me and give me instant readings, either by saliva or urine.

Hi,
Your site is beautifully photographed, and thank you for sharing the information. It’s wonderful. I’m determined to heal from endometriosis without surgery, and am using the brilliant ‘Endo diet’ – which means I’m already off meat, diary, caffeine, alcohol, and sugar however I feel like neutralising my body and changing 80% of my food intake to alkaline will heal better. Endo seems to love acidic food and conditions, I made the connection this week after landing in hospital. Horrible and scary. So, am now looking at ph of foods and believe this has been the missing link as I suffer with a gastric ulcer too. Will start checking my own ph this week. Desperately wanting this to work. Thanks.

I’ve been doing research for almost a year on a specific health issue and have dedicated a blog to it. It’s about the connection between histamine intolerance and menopause. I’ve been able to control my intolerance using supplements and eating a specific diet, and have recently become very interested in the relationship to hot flashes, histamine and the acid/alkaline body.

Years ago I used to juice, but decided that the influx of sugar without the fiber from the juicing was probably not a good thing so I abandoned it. I use a vitamix to blend whole juices. But now that I want to investigate alkalizing my body to heal completely, I’m toying with the idea of juicing again.

So I’d really like to know what your opinion is on juicing and its effect on blood sugar. There are as many sites stating that juicing is bad as there are that state juicing is good. But I really love your site and would love to get your opinion.

Hello,
I have a few health problem so my friend suggest to Alkaline Diet. I started drink a water with lime and carbonate. I have had a back operation. I have a noduler goitre. At least have suffer Chondromalacia patella. What do you offer to me. I really need to help.

Thanks you

Julie February 27, 2014 at 12:33 am

Sunbeam, I suggest reading a book called The pH Miracle for more information but this alkaline lifestyle will help you I am sure of it. But please drink plain alkaline water with the lime and not carbonated. The gas in the water can be harmful to the brain.

How do you make tap water alkaline without spending thousands on a filter. Some sites say you cannot make your water alkaline, but it has to come from the water source. Our water is very acidic. I use a Brita filter which helps remove a lot these old pipes put out, but it tests very acidic. I appreciate your input. Thank you.

I found information on your site about water. I’ll try that. Thank you.

Hi, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis twenty one years ago, have been on medication since, would like to explore Alkalizing, would this help me. Thanking you, Angela

Julie October 20, 2014 at 9:22 pm

Hi Libby
Yes Indeed it does! Chlorophyll rich plants are your bloods’ best friend. However, if you’ve already been prescribed blood thinners it’s tricky to do both. I suggest working with a naturopath if this is the case so he can help you with weaning the drug and leaning into more greens and an alkaline lifestyle. All the best to you:)

Is it ok to measure your ph in your saliva or does it have to be urine?
thx

Julie March 18, 2016 at 12:02 am

Urine is best, 2nd urine of the morning before eating is ideal. Should be around 7.2

Hilary September 25, 2017 at 7:38 pm

Please tell me what brand of strips to use for urine and saliva. Thank you for sharing all your information.

Julie September 25, 2017 at 7:57 pm

I have used strips by Greens Plus that work well:) Most health stores carry basic ph strips. All the best 🙂
